Security is a tradable financial instrument which is used for raising funds, providing ownership or lending a company or government (bonds); they offers the possibility of generating returns through dividends, interest payment and capital appreciation.

Equity security represents ownership of a company. Stockholders have a claim on the company's earnings, and the stockholders may receive dividends.
For instance, an individual purchases 100 shares of Grameenphone. Therefore, he has a certain percentage of ownership of Grameenphone. Moreover, he can earn from the stocks through capital gains and dividends that come from the company’s earnings.
Key features of equity securities are:

1.1.2 Fixed Income securities: Investing in promises that pay you back
Fixed income securities are financial instruments representing loans made by investors to borrowers, typically corporations or governments. Investors, known as bondholders, receive periodic interest payments and the return of their principal amount when the security matures.
For instance, when an investor purchases a bond from a company, they lend money to that company in exchange for fixed interest payments over a set period, ultimately receiving their initial investment back at maturity.

2.1 What is a BO account?
BO accounts stands for Beneficiary Owners Account. This is quite similar to a bank accounts as bank accounts holds money and BO account hold financial assets like equity, bond, mutual fund.
There are mainly two types of BO account in Bangladesh.
- Cash BO account
- Marginal BO account
